I'd like to appreciate my mentor Gary, he's taught me so much about not only fabrication but life as well. He's given me so much advice about school and life after along with making laugh all the time. I've only had one job and one other internship but this is the only "job" that I've really had fun at. I wish externship was longer but I will definitely be up here during the summer and maybe some weekends to learn more about cars and get better at fabricating things.
I'd also like to appreciate Francis, he's one of the guys at Sleepers and he has also taught be a few things about cars and has also made this externship really fun. He gave me advice about college and what I should do to make me more qualified for my future career. Honestly I'd like to appreciate everyone there, Danny, Thomas, Len, Francis, Johnny, and Gary for teaching me so much and making this the funniest three and a half weeks of my senior year. I have yet to face something really challenging in my externship as I've picked up the skills pretty easily. if I do have one though I will post it.
A skill that I acquired at school that really helped me in my externship is the use of power tools, and different kinds of saws. Most of the things I did at school were for wood but its pretty much the same principle but it takes longer.
None of the projects that I have worked on at my externship is like something I've done at school. It's a whole new experience and I'm definitely having more fun than I did at my previous internship. I haven't really come across any challenges so far since this is my first day at my *real* externship. The first project I'm working on is building a stand for a metal roller, I have been tasked with cutting metal and welding them together. It has been pretty straight forward so far. I will be working with my uncle at his car fabrication shop in Westminster, we will be designing and creating car parts and bodywork. I'm really excited to learn more about cars and hopefully I can do some modifications to my own car. I'm not really worried about anything because hes a really cool guy, I know I'm gonna learn a lot and have a good time.
